About Us

North Beach CERT was organized under the U.S. Homeland Security directive from FEMA after 9/11 to allow local residents to assist with emergencies and other community wide events that supplement first responders, such as the fire and police departments. CERT members are trained to handle communications, triage, damage assessment, first aid, light search and rescue, as well as provide other support to local and regional disaster workers.  CERT team members are a vital part of the community's first line of defense during trouble.

Who We Are

CERT stands for " Community Emergency Response Team" and has members from all ages and backgrounds, who want to be able to help in an emergency. CERT team members can take the basic CERT training course (20 hours) and become certified in CPR, first aid, light fire suppression, incident management skills, as well as knowledge of how to assist first responders from the fire and police agencies. Even if you think you aren't in top physical condition, you can help with a role in CERT-
